now with more warbeasts

painting molik karn now. lost one of the shoulder spikes when i stripped him so i just plugged the hole with some greeen stuff.

got a bronzeback titan earlier today. damned things assembly was kinda easy but filling in all those gaps took a lot if time. i arranged the hands so that it looks as if its charging -at least i think it looks like its charging- which meant more gaps to be filled. putting it on the base was also a bit hard since, whatever angle you put it in, however far back you place it in the base, its tusks will go out up to almost an inch in front of it.

bahala na kung paano sya papasok sa .5" melee range hehehe

tyrant xerxis

finally done with xerxis!

yeah. default skorne colors using slightly a different method.

vmc carmine red for the flats, highlighted with khador highlight and heartfire then washed with p3 red ink. followed the skorne book recipe of umbral umber, exile blue and coal black for shading.

for the golds, vgc glorious gold was used as a base for the armor trim and red lacquered areas. this was followed by a wash of citadel agrax earthshade for the trim and p3 red ink for the lacquered parts. finally a final shading of citadel nuln oil was applied to the deepest parts.

the steel areas of the pillars of halaak was painted with a base of pig iron, washed with nuln oil and highlighted with cold steel. thesand on xerxis' base and horns/tusks/teeth on his back banners were basecoated with jack bone and washed with agrax earthshade.

i believe that i will start hoarding agrax earthshade and nuln oil now :D

painting updates + some reminiscing

i just did the math and found out that ive been in wargaming for eleven years. i remember buying my warhammer fantasy battles started box (empire vs orcs) in neutral grounds in galleria before watching the first part of the lord of the rings. that was december 2001 and ive gone through 10 armies, 3 systems and countless times my fingers have been cut, drilled and glued together. nice.

anyhoo...

finished the girls of dick's witch coven of garlghast and moving on to the egregore. this is the third time (i think) that im painting these models and while i find that the witches have gotten easier, their disco ball is still a pain in the ass to paint. i still have no shortcut for the glowing green surface under the plates.

on the skorne front, ive given my epic morghoul, mordikaar and molik karn a simple green bath. tyrant xerxis' reds have been started with a basecoat of vmc carmine red. not unexpectedly, i dropped the model and the arms pooped off! i would have been royally pissed at my clumsiness had i not seen that the sides were now more exposed thus making painting those areas easier to paint.

on the gaming side, i havent been able to play as much as id like as most the weekends of may have been fully booked by anniversaries and family trips. bad timing since the bunker will be closing its doors by the end of may. hopefully it will be open for general gaming on the 25th.

skorne red. kinda...

might ba doing studio skorne colors after all. morgoul, molik karn meet simple green, simple green, this is morghoul and molik.

update 7:09 pm

ok not exactly the studio scheme. darker red and maybe white somewhere.

03 May 2012

wips

finished molik karn's skin and tabard. moving on to base coating the lacquered plates. also, cleaning dick sy's witch coven of garlghast.

oh noes!

mas nag eenjoy ako magpintura ng skorne. masama na yung tingin sakin nung seether. spikes nalang daw ayaw ko pa tapusin :P

24 April 2012

Dessert Skorne :D

back to cryx

at pagkatapos mabuo ng skorne swordsmen, balik naman ako sa pagpipintura ng seether na nakuha ko kay dick.

deneghra

some distortion on sliver's spearhead. shot at f8 made everything in focus but since the spearhead is closer to the camera, it looks huge.

sliver's (the spear) shaft was replaced by pork with a surgical needle. the original shaft was too soft and bendy like the ones in the bane knights (i also had them replaced by pork).

what happens to cryxian warwitches when they die? they get better. eclipse (the glaive) also had shaft replacement surgery by pork the pork god.

back view. i was inspired to paint the white stuff white (as opposed to the black, shown in the artwork in warmachine apotheosis), from a line in deneghra's page in apotheosis that said deneghra was the dark bride of cryx. so i painted the veil white.
